Carbon Offsetting

As part of our commitment to Green Tourism and desire to develop sustainable holiday accommodation, we recognize that guests are likely to make a carbon positive journey to stay with us.

To help compensate for the effects of this journey we have donated a Grove of Trees to be planted by Trees for Life. Our Grove will help expand the Caledonian Forest in Glen Affric, restoring wild natural forest in the Scottish Highlands by adding to the million trees Trees for Life have already planted in this spectacular region. Below is a video created by Scotland :The Big Picture showing the beauty of Glen Affric and explaining the importance of forest regeneration:

Glen Affric – A landscape worth restoring

We’re delighted to have filmed and produced a film celebrating 60 years of forest restoration in Glen Affric, a glen that could be at the core of an unprecedented collaboration between landowners and communities to create an unparalleled forest corridor stretching from Scotland’s east to west coast.Commissioned by Trees For Life and Forestry Commission Scotland, narrated by Gordon Buchanan Wildlife Filmaker.

Our grove will be made up of native species grown from locally collected seed. Trees for Life plant Scots pine, willow, rowan, birch, hazel, alder, holly, aspen, bird cherry and many others.

Once our tiny saplings are planted, they will begin to grow amongst the many others Trees for Life plants. Over time, open hillsides will be transformed into healthy young woodland, rich in wildlife. Once the trees reach seed-bearing age, natural regeneration will expand them into the forests of the future for generations to enjoy.

You can also add more trees to our grove! Simply click the “Add trees to this grove” button at the bottom of the page, select the number of trees you would like to add and write a personal dedication if you would like to include one.

Thank you so much for supporting us to support work to restore the Caledonian Forest in the Highlands of Scotland. We really do appreciate it.
