Cannich is set in the centre of the beautiful area of Strathglass in the Scottish Highlands. It is on the doorstep of the National Nature Reserve Glen Affric, which protects one of the few remaining areas of Ancient Caledonian pinewoods along with a wide range of wildlife. Look out for the red deer, red squirrels, otter, pine martins and much more. Click here to see a beautiful video of Glen Affric and how we are joining in with the campaign for forest regeneration.
We are directly on the route of the Affric- Kintail way, a superb, cross country long distance trail that takes in a variety of landscapes and stunning views. For more details visit The Affric-Kintail-Way website.
The area is a peaceful place to relax and take in scenery, but for the more active there is the option to participate in many outdoor sports, including: walking, cycling, fishing, riding, golf and canoeing. For more information visit Glenaffric.info
There are many less strenuous walks along lochs, rivers and forestry trails enabling the visitor to get amidst the wild beauty of Scotland. Visit the forestry commission for a guide.
Westward is only a short distance from Loch Ness. Take the chance to visit the Loch Ness Monster exhibition, cruise the loch and explore Urquhart Castle. If you need a rest from the rural idyll, Inverness “the Capital of the Highlands” is just 25 miles away. See Visitinvernesslochness for more information.
